What do you think? For several weeks I have been trying to come up with a campaign style statement that really summarizes how I feel about the position of School Trustee. Your Catholic School Trustee is meant to play an advocacy role in the community; to support families, schools and parish. I believe to do this properly means that – more than almost anything else – your trustee must be a good listener and believe in open lines of communication. After reading about the role of trustee in the community, (see the quote below) and knowing how passionate I am about education and providing children the supports and resources they require to achieve their full potential, I am confidant that “Supporting Student and School Success” represents the values that are important to being a reliable School Trustee. I hope you’ll agree! I invite you to take a minute to review this quote from: “Making a Difference for Kids….Guide for Candidates and Communities” and then send me an email or post your comments on my facebook page. I believe strongly this is a job about community. It’s a chance to listen to, represent, and advocate for, all the members of our community so that together we’re all “Supporting Student and School Success!”

“A Trustee’s role is to maintain a focus on student achievement, well-being and equity and to participate in making decisions that benefit the board’s entire jurisdiction while representing the interests of their constituents.” (2) They must work in collaboration with others and mediate conflicting interests and values…” and they must help to ensure “that the community has a direct way to express its views on vital education decisions that affect our day to day lives.”  I’m ready to work hard to fulfill this mandate. If you agree, vote for me!
